The start of day 3 after a good sleep last night. Still suffering from condensation despite having all 4 windows cracked open slightly. Headed to the local Tesco Superstore, for a scoot, teeth brush, change of shreddies and a wet wipe wash down. Nice. Finally, we purchased a few essentials for the day and a Costa coffee from the machine.
We're hoping to get down past Bamburgh today, but it depends how much we get held up with sightseeing heading south down the coast line.Maybe it's a bit further.
Our first stop is Cocklawburn Beach to give the boys a walk on the beach.
Next stop Bamburgh and it turns out to be very difficult for parking. It was so busy, considering it was a Monday. After a few photos of Bamburgh Castle we walked along the beach even though the weather isn't great for the first day of July. When is summer due?
We hopped into the Lord Crew pub for a relatively expensive coffee and half a cider at £6.05p.
We then head down to Seahouses, having a quick look around and stopping for a drink at The Olde Ship.
Craster next, and we pop into The Jolly Fisherman for a drink. Its very busy, but raining outside, so everyone may have the same idea. Or it could have been the smell of the kipper smoking factory over the way, not an unpleasant smell, but not something you'd want all over your clothes - especially when our change of clothing is limited :-)
Next up, we head further down the coast to Alnmouth, actually a slight detour off the route. Another Park4Night spot, this time on a roadside on a quiet street with views of the estuary and fishing boats.
There are a few bars in Alnmouth, so we obligingly try out The Schooner, The Red Lion, The Whittling House (more of an upper end eatery, but we settled for a bottle of wine, bag of crisps, and a bag of nuts, for over £33), and The Hope and Anchor.
We take a final comfort break nearing last orders, and back to the car for another peaceful nights sleep.
